Our theme was MONEY - always a good subject for provoking lively discussion and sharp writing. We created a complex money mindmap which included memories of The Owl and the Pussycat and possible meanings for the evocative phrase quantitative easing. We also listened to The Beatles and some of us pretended that we were too young to remember them.
Our starting points included proverbs about money. Here's one of my favourites: With money in you pocket, you are wise and you are handsome and you sing well, too. - Yiddish Proverb
We also read a short chapter from the Tao te Ching No 9 which includes the phrase Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench which conjured a lovely image of 21st century humans chasing around all stressed out. We wrote haiku pairs about rich and poor and tried to imagine ourselves above mere financial considerations........
